First Record Falls at Greensboro Aquatic Center
Daniel Le set an unofficial North Carolina State Record for the 15-16 Boys 100 Yard Breaststroke at the GSA John Dewey Invitational swim meet this past weekend (Nov. 19-20) at Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The 16-year-old Le, who competes for Greensboro Swimming Association (GSA), won the event with a time of 56.03 seconds, beating the previous state record of 56.24 seconds. Le just returned from the USA Swimming National Select Camp in Colorado Springs which he attended with GSA’s head coach, Kevin Thornton.
In the 100 Breaststroke, Le out-touched former Olympian and GSA swimmer Todd Torres, for the win. Torres, age 43, was in town to compete at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in preparation for the 2012 United States Masters Swimming Spring National Championships that will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in April 2012.
Four hundred swimmers from 14 USA Swimming club teams participated in the competition.
